Sweetwater Christians

Our Maker

Jesus promised His disciples "I will build my church" (Matthew 16:18). His church is His body (Ephesians 1:22-23) which bears His name (Romans 16:16). The church of Christ has a divine founder and not a human one. Jesus served as the Foundation (I Corinthians 3:11), Builder (Matthew 16:18) and Purchaser (Acts 20:28) of His body, the church.

Our Mission

We exist to profess the saving message of the gospel (Rom. 1:16) to a lost world. Jesus commanded His disciples to "teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you" (Matthew 28:19-20). The church that was established in the first century carried on that mission (Acts 8:4). This should be the mission of every church of Christ desiring to please the Father.

Our Vision

Our vision comes from Ephesians 4:16, “every part does its share.” The Bible says this leads to “growth of the body” (Eph. 4:11-16). The mission cannot be accomplished adequately by one person or even a small team of people. Our mission requires each member of the church being equipped for the work of saving and securing the lost. Leaders in the ministry are tasked with the special job of equipping members for the work of ministry, as well as being examples to the flock, and members are tasked with the special job of carrying out the wonderful works of the church's diverse ministries, which all contribute to the church's primary mission to save the lost and secure the saved.
